We are requiring that all teams cook at least one butt for the People’s Choice tasting tent. These will be turned in to a centralized location for spectators to come sample and vote for their favorites. We will award $250 prize money for People’s Choice. There is no separation of backyard and professional competitors. Everyone will compete at the same level in PorktoberQue. Every team is eligible for any and all prize money. Other items to note:
The event will take place September 23-25 at the Houston County Farm Center. Electric and Water are included for the first 35 teams that enter. If you would like to make it a long weekend and want to stay over on Saturday night, it’s just an extra $35 per night. You cant pull into your spot until 10pm on Thursday when the circus parking has let out. The spaces are approximately 20’ wide by 38’ long, though there is some flexibility for larger units. Any team requiring an additional space (extra RV’s, equipment, etc) may reserve an adjacent space for $100. This option is limited with available space. All teams are required to have a fire extinguisher at their cook site. This is per the KCBS rules. There will be bathrooms in the general festival area. Should you want your “own” potty in your site, we can have one delivered for $75 for the whole weekend. Please let us know no later than September 16, 2016.
